February 2012: Gallatin National Forest Winter snowshoe Programs

Come join Gallatin National Forest employees and learn about the great outdoors during the winter. Snowshoe Walk in the West Yellowstone area. . For more information please call (406) 823-6961. No experience necessary. All programs last 2 to 3 hours unless stated otherwise. Dress in layers and wear snow-type boots. Bring along snowshoes, water, snack and binoculars.

February 2-5, 2012: North American Ice Fishing Circut - Ice Fishing Tournament Weekend

NAIFC (North American Ice Fishing Circuit) Ice Fishing Tournament Weekend: An official North American Ice Fishing Circuit event.  Winter’s equivalent of summer’s big time bass and walleye tournaments, is filled with seminars, a kid’s workshop and the fishing competition itself.  A round of evening activities will add local flavor to this first annual staging.  Pack up the modern day version of woolies and join us in West Yellowstone.  Add great snowmobiling, snowcoach tours, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing for an invigorating weekend in winter.

Join the fun from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the West Yellowstone Ice Rink (located across the street from Westmart,100 S. Faithful Street off Yellowstone Ave).  Warm-up with hot beverages, toast some marshmallows, and make your own S' more. All the fixings provided. Bring your own sled for our Kid's Sledding Hill. Or, try out West Yellowstone's ice skating rink. Skates available. Old-fashioned family fun for everyone of every age!

February 7, 2012: Moonlight Ski

Join WYSEF board members for a non-competitive ski under the stars.  Meet us at 6pm at the tralhead building.  Bundle up and bring a headlamp in the clouds are out.  Warm refreshments will be enjoyed at the biathlon cabin.

February 11, 2012: Taste of the Trails

Taste of the Trails.  Enjoy local tastes at feed stations located along a 5k course.  Ski with friends and family and set your own pace.  From dutch oven cooking to hot drinks, you will find a morsels of delight around every bend.  Pre-registration required.

February 11, 2012: Spam Cup #2- Freestyle Race

Skiers of all ages and abilities are invited to compete for the coveted Spam trophy.  This is a low-keyed event geared to get Junior skiers race experience and master skiers a chance to push their training.  Spectators are welcome at the Rendezvous Trailhead Building.  Day-of registration available.
