November 6, 2011: West Entrance to Yellowstone Closes to motorized traffic.

Yellowstone reopens to winter over the snow travel by guided snowmobile or snowcoach tours starting December 15, 2011.

The National Park Service has waived admission fees to all national parks on 17 selected dates throughout 2011 and encourages all Americans to visit a national park this year.


November 11-12, 2011: West Yellowstone Ski Swap

Drop off non-motorized winter items at the trailhead on Friday from 4-7pm. Sale starts Saturday from 8am to noon. Get new-to-you winter gear at bargain basement prices. Pick up unsold items or your check on Saturday from 12-1pm, 30% of the sale price is donated to WYSEF. Come hungery, the Ski Team will host their annual bake sale on Saturday as well.

Ice-skates of all sizes can be donated for the Chamber's Skating and S'mores nights.

November 20, 2011: Community Help Fund Benefit

The GREAT West Yellowstone Chili Cookoff and Pie Auction Povah Center 12:30 - 3:00 PM. Chilli cookoff begins at 12:30 pm. Silent pie auction every 30 minutes, 2:00 Live pie auction begins and 3:00 Chili cookoff winner will be announced. All afternoon: please bring non-perishable items for the local food bank and enter to win tickets for two on Allegiant Airlines! Chili Cookoff cost: Adults $5, Children 10 & under $2, Lemonade, coffee, cookies .50 each.

This is a must for every cross-country skier! West Yellowstone literally comes alive in lycra in November. Hundreds of Nordic ski enthusiasts from all over the world, novice to expert, gather to learn more about the sport, practice techniques and see new equipment. Early snows, superb grooming, racing opportunities and the Nordic Skiing Exposition make this an especially inviting time. On-snow clinics take place between November 24-28. SuperTour Ski Races are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
